2009 Spring Wedding Color Trends

Wedding themes, flowers, reception decor, and the bridesmaids dresses all spin off of the wedding colors. Finding the perfect color combination is both personal and trendy.

You want to select colors that work with your personality, and colors that are trendy. Why choose trendy colors? Because it will be easier for you to find wedding accessories, flowers, candles, bridesmaids dresses, etc, if you have a popular, available, color choice.

Color trends for the spring of 2009 are:

Silver and purple

Silver works great for the overall color which would show up in your bridesmaids dresses and table linens. Purple, whether it is a bright bold purple or a softer lavender, would tie in nicely as a sash for the bridesmaids dresses, a floral bouquet, the napkins for the tables, and other smaller items.

All black

Black is still a top choice among brides. Black is a classic color to use for the bridesmaids dresses. Paired with white, black leads a classic, sophisticated look.

Of course, you could spice it up a bit, and add some silver or light gray with the black.

Pink

Pink is still a good choice for weddings. All shades of pink can be combined to create a romantic, dreamy wedding. If you like pink, but want something bolder, hot pink is a top choice among brides today.

Red

Red is another beautiful choice and very trendy today. Most couples who choose to use red, combine the bold color with white to create a crisp, lively wedding. Red is both romantic and alluring, which speaks volumes about your love together.

Red works great as an accent for the napkins, chair bows, trim on your wedding gown, and flowers in the bouquets and floral arrangements.

Gray

Gray is very popular among brides today. Often paired with bold colors, like red, hot pink, or dark purples, gray is a beautiful color for bridesmaids dresses, table linens, and tuxes.

Orange and Yellow

Sunshine colors of orange and yellow are popular today. Peaches, yellows, and oranges are warm and inviting. These colors create a beautiful, lively spring wedding.

As with any choice involving your wedding, the colors you choose should reflect your own personal taste and style.

Hand-tied bouquetCascade bouquet

Many of us are familiar with the most popular bridal bouquets, which are the round, hand-tied, and cascade bouquets; however, there are many more bouquet types, which are generally a spin-off of the most popular bouquets.

The Nosegay bouquet is similar to a round bouquet, yet it characteristically has more greenery and less flowers than the more common round bouquet. Nosegay bouquets where quite popular in Victorian times. During the Victorian era, nosegay bouquets where mainly constructed with herbs and strong smelling flowers to ward off the foul scents of the day. Today nosegay bouquets are used more for their aesthetic appeal, than their original use.

The posy bouquet is another type of round bouquet which the stems are either kept as is or removed and wired.

Beidermeir Bouquet

The beidermeir bouquet is a round bouquet that features flowers of the same type arranged in a circular pattern with each ring representing one flower type.

Crescent Bouquet

A crescent bouquet is a symmetrical or asymmetrical bouquet were the left and right sides of the bouquet flow down. A symmetrical crescent bouquet features flowers and greenery flowing down at the same length on either side of the bouquet, where as the asymmetrical crescent bouquet has one side longer than the other side. A full skirted wedding gown looks best with this type of bouquet, especially when the bouquet is carried below the waist.

Arm Bouquet

The arm bouquet, also known as a presentation bouquet or a pageant bouquet, is constructed of long stemmed flowers, such as, Calla lilies, long stemmed roses, or orchids. The flowers in an arm bouquet are left in their natural state and tied together with a large bow. The arm bouquet is cradled in your arm in the inner part of the elbow. A slim and slender gown looks best with this type of bouquet.

Contemporary or Freeform Bouquet

A freeform or contemporary bouquet has no defined or specific shape. It is often constructed of tropical flowers with foliage coming out of the bouquet. The freeform bouquet is beautiful for tropical and destination weddings.

Single Stem Bouquet

The single stem bouquet is a simple and elegant bouquet. It is often tied with a ribbon or the stem is wrapped to add more attention to the bouquet.

Composite Bouquet

The composite bouquet is made of petals wired together to form a single stem which is tied with ribbon. It is a simple, yet not so popular, bouquet.

Wristlet

A wristlet is a single flower arrangement worn on the wrist to free up both of your hands. Wristlets are sometimes used instead of corsages for the mother of the bride.

Pomander

The pomander is a ball of flowers carried by a ribbon attached to it. It can be used instead of a traditional bouquet. Pomanders are becoming popular for junior bridesmaids and flower girls.

Teardrop Bouquet

The teardrop bouquet is the sister of the cascade bouquet. While a cascade bouquet has a natural flow to it, the teardrop bouquet is more stiff. The teardrop bouquet is larger at the top and comes to a point at the bottom.

Fan Bouquet

The fan bouquet is a cluster of flowers attached to a fan.

Cone Bouquet

The final bouquet type is the cone bouquet. Flowers in the cone bouquet are arranged in a cone shape. Cone bouquets often use less flowers and generally use other materials instead of flowers.

2008 Trend in Wedding Bouquets

Every year a few flowers rise above all other flowers that are requested for wedding bouquets. Also, every year there are options that brides must make on whether or not they want fresh or silk flowers.

We are happy to announce that in 2008 silk floral bouquets are gaining in popularity. Many brides are recognizing the advantages of using silk for their bridal bouquets.

The main advantage of using silk floral arrangements and bouquets is silk will not wilt. If one is having a late summer wedding, or an early spring wedding, when weather temperatures are not ideal for fresh flowers, silk could be a great option so that one can capture beautiful outdoor photos without worrying about the flowers wilting from the cold or heat.

Silk also gives one the advantage of keeping the bouquet as a keepsake without having to spend a dime on preserving it.

Aside from silk floral bouquets becoming a popular selection for brides in 2008, we are seeing the rose hold it's popularity for the wedding bouquet, as well as, the reception centerpieces. Calla lilies and gerbera daisies are second in popularity. With the vibrant and cheerful colors of the gerbera daisies, and the romantic curves of the calla lily, one can see why they would be a popular choice among brides today.

2008 Wedding Color Trends

The color trends for 2008 weddings are stemming from our ever growing desire to "go green".

Many brides are opting for more green shades this year. From pale greens, to earthy greens, to deep dark greens, you will find something for everyone, well for everyone who likes green!

In addition to the many shades of green, we are stepping away from the chocolate brown, yet not going back to black. Instead 2008 will embrace steel grey as the new black, or chocolate brown.

We will see more bridesmaids dresses in steel grey, but we will also see this shimmering shade of grey used in accents from floral arrangements to bouquets to the wedding invitations. Steel grey will be woven into the weddings of 2008.

As we move away from chocolate brown and the bright, vibrant colors of last year, we will move toward more traditional colors. White is becoming the main color this year! We will see a lot of white candles, soft white linens, white flower arrangements, bouquets, dresses, and lights.

Some weddings will embrace an all white decor, perhaps with a hint of steel grey or a lovely shade of pale green.

Keep your eyes open for lots of white, lots of beautiful shades of green, and steel grey for the 2008 wedding.

The Christmas Wedding

What makes the Christmas wedding elegant, sophisticated, and not anything like a Christmas party?

Colors.

If you choose colors that are not the traditional red and green that we all see for Christmas, you will be able to pull off an elegant, sophisticated, and classy wedding.

So what colors do you use for a Christmas wedding when you want to add a little Christmas spirit to the celebrations?

Blues and silver are elegant, not as traditional, and can be tied into the bridesmaids dresses and tuxes, flower bouquets, and centerpieces.

Another beautiful color scheme would be the use of red or green mixed with gold or silver. Personally, we would use a dark maroon or burgundy red with silver. For green, we would use a dark hunter or forest green with gold.

Of course, the gold and silver could be switched, and one could use any shade of red with gold, and a lighter more silvery green with silver.

Ivory or white also makes a great accent for the color schemes listed above, or as the second color instead of silver or gold, to mix with blue, red, or green.

Remember that even though it is a Christmas wedding, you still want the celebrations and events to say wedding more than Christmas. Most of all, you want the event to reflect your own style and personality.

Wedding bouquet trends for 2007

The trends for 2007 show a majority of today's modern brides are looking for unique, personal, and stylish bouquets. They prefer a bouquet that is made for them, verses something 'off the shelf.'

Personalization for some brides includes; adding photos, personal heirlooms, ribbons or jewels to their bouquets. Bouquet jewels come in a wide variety from Swarovski crystals, to sparkling butterflies or pretty pearls! All of which can tie into the wedding theme, match the bride's dress, or compliment the flowers in her bouquet.

Following the trend to use jewels to add sparkle and style to the bouquet, today's trends show a majority of spring bouquets are using coffee tones, dirty pinks, or pale greens. Early to mid summer weddings are opting for more vibrant colors, like bright pinks, bright oranges, and greens.

Whatever your style, today's trend for personalization, will fit perfectly into your wedding and your memories!
